DOT PAINTING # 2 ...

This is the second dot painting. These are so relaxing to do! Maybe I need to do a series? Here you can see them side by side. I only brought a limited number of paints with me on vacation. So, this has forced me to see ways to use them creatively and come up with different designs using the same colors. A good exercise for me as I tend to just pick up the nearest bright color! This is also a good exercise for me, to create a design that is really a controlled space; lines are precise and exact. Much different than other things I have painted. Yes, I now see the challenge of creating #3 using these same colors in yet another variation. Love this game!

Wow! I love number 2!
When I do use color (when I'm not totally into black & white drawings) I only use 3 colors in a painting. Everything is in the shading and mixing. Too many colors drives me crazy!

Thanks! I can see your point about too many colors. I tend to use many colors but in the same family, which is kinda like mixing and shading. I have a probelm with using mixed colors because I go back into a piece, sometimes days later, and then I can't mix the same shade again. Dot paintiing #3 is in progress:)
