Cool Stencils that Rock !

I confess I have never had a very high regard for the stencil.  The designs never really appealed to me and most of them were just boring.  I direct your attention to a fabulous web site selling the most wonderful stencils!  Drop on over to www.artistcellar.com  and see what I mean.  I purchased their Cathedral Series, four stencils that look like four different stained glass designs. It really was hard to decide as there are so many cool designs.

I was anxious to see how they might enhance my artwork, so I lined up 3 prints I had of three of  my stitched paintings. The prints are 5" X 8" and the stencils are 6 inches square.
I placed a stencil on the print and the results are below.  I love these!  If you have an interest in adding another layer to your art pieces, I suggest the lowly stencil.  It has really come of age! (and, these stencils are made in the USA)

My Current Obsession ....

Oh, I know.  It could be just about anything!  I am making a new line of Folk Art Crosses!  It occurred to me that it would really be more efficient if I only posted photographs of them on ONE blog.  So, if you would be interested in seeing them, please go to : www.judeongleyartworks.blogspot.com.  I hope you like them!
More to come!

A Grand Evening at Lago Winery .....

Last night we went to the Lago Winery for wine and pizza and some terrific live music.  I took this large cross I had worked on over the winter.  It was  purchased  by the winery and is now  a fabulous new addition to their  decor !  They now display 7 of my crosses, in various sizes.
I encourage you to visit if you live in the area. Check them out at  http://www.lagowinery.com/  Their address is 4340 East Lake Road, Jamestown PA 16134   (724-932-2182).  Be sure to view  the web site or call for operating hours.  It is a most wonderful place and I know  you will fall in love with Lago Winery!

A New Direction in the Studio ....

I recently decided to focus on creating smaller pieces of art, a more deliberate offering.  It is harder for me to work small, but I quite enjoyed it!  These are collage pieces, paint, papers, ink in a 5 " X 8" format.  I have them in white mats and then in a 9 " X 12 " brushed silver colored metal frame.  I need to do more of these.....

Glass Growers Gallery Opening Reception ...

On April 20th I had an opening reception for my very first solo exhibition!  I had a fabulous time! There were many visitors and good  wine.  I had no problem standing for 3 hours and came home quite exhilarated. It is so gratifying to any artist to sell a piece of artwork to someone other than family and friends !
This is a photograph of me and Roy in our dining room, before leaving for the opening.  I was so excited!

This is a photograph of one of my larger pieces.

This is another large piece that garnered quite a bit of attention.

This one is my personal favorite as it was my very first abstract painting.

Much of the evening I spent talking with visitors who had many questions about my work and the processes involved.  It was great fun talking about my art!

The lady in the fuchsia jacket is my sister who came from Louisiana to attend my opening!  The lovely calla lily arrangement in the corner was a gift from my Aunt who flew in from Albuquerque to support me at the opening.  I have a wonderful family!

This was such a special night for me, full of fun and excitement, and surrounded by many family members and friends.  I would like to do this again!
