...TWO TURTLE DOVES...

Raise your hand if you are currently humming "The Twelve Days of Christmas". Yeah, I knew you would! I have been trying for months to get a photograph for you of our sweet pair of ring-necked turtle doves. Finally I did. They have decided that their new resting perch, every afternoon around 4 PM, is this one particular railing on our porch. They are so shy and skittish that I had to approach the window very slowly and use the zoom feature on my camera so the pictures are not real clear. They are so entertaining! When they are on the ground, looking for seeds to eat, they seem to become almost agitated in their movements. They will take a couple of steps to the left, then abruptly go to the right, and then start walking around in tight little circles. You could almost see them wringing their little hands ( if they had any) in a worrisome manner. We spend a lot of time just watching them and smiling. Most of the time they sit quietly and very close together. They might have seen my movement in the window when I took these shots.

Very cute- we have mourning doves among the birds at our feeder - and getting pix of them takes quite alot of stealth!!!!!:>)

I have all kinds of birds that 'dine' around my bird feeder. The doves are a favorite, too. d

I find it odd to say I miss the doves there but part of me does. We had so many to watch there. We have a few appear here for brief moments but mostly enjoy the Hummingbirds and Robins now. Last week we watched a Great Blue Heron fly over. That's the first time I've seen one this close to our house...and you can't miss them since they are so huge! While out on the Mother's Day Art Tour, we had a lovely time watching the Bald Eagles, Goldfinches, and Deer!
Nothing better than being up close to nature as far as I'm concerned! (that is unless it's a skunk! Ha!)
So, thanks for sharing your lovey dovey images Jude! They turned out really nice even through your window!
Hugs and miss you!
