POTTERY CLASS #2

Oh my yes, we have improved! Today we made bowls, shallow and deeper. Then after they became somewhat hardened, we painted a slip on them, or painted a colored glaze, or inscribed in them, or a combination of all of those. I can't wait until they are fired to see what they REALLY look like! Here, for your viewing pleasure, are some of the pieces.
I have 2 pieces in the above photograph. The free form fish bowl in the upper right corner is mine, as well as the smaller bowl to the left of it with the contemporary design.

Looks like you are the 'star' in mud. It will be like Christmas when you open that kiln. How are they being fired? Raku or electric... what tempeture? Dee

Dee, I think by the end of the course we will have used both. Will let you know!

Tomas, shaking my head and sighing sadly...why no comments posted on Arts or Announcements?

there are rock stars and then there are mud stars... actually Jude's a "rock" star too, and a fiber star ... a real "down to earth" Renaissance woman.

I have never heard of the glue you mentioned. I use 'goop'...household or automotive. Stinks but holds and dries pretty quickly. You can buy it everywhere even in the food markets! dee

paint can : I have learn to keep plastic wrap handy to put between can/lid. If paint can is stored I pound it down. I also have a container of water handy to put paint utensils in. Swish and they are cleaner.. I can leave things in there overnight. Clean up is a bore. I wash brushes outside(So Cal) option I know. Dee
